TEST AND TRACE SCAM

Added on 06 June 2020

A coronavirus track and trace telephone scam has targeted Powys residents.

The scam involves the caller claiming to be from NHS and telling members of the public that they have been in contact with somebody with Covid-19 – and then try to get them to pay £500 for a virus testing kit. They also ask for their address.

Coronavirus test kits are provided by the NHS so they are free of charge. The council wants to reassure residents that real contact tracers will NOT ask for card details or bank account numbers.
